Since I am living in Tokyo for over 10 years, I am proud of myself as Tokyo Trip Expert. Here, I will tell you everything I know about how travelers from all over the world can amazingly enjoy the journey with all reasonable hotels, tasty food choices, and amazing spots including my secret recommends with travel tips in this biggest metropolitan city in the world. For Tokyo trip, I believe 4 days stay should be minimum, and if you prefer including staying hot spring spots close to Tokyo, around one week would be ideal to maximize your all fantastic experience in this trip.

For this post, I’ll tell you about my favorite and cool restaurants in Tokyo. Considering variety of cuisines, I picked up top 10 from my lists. I didn’t list up the restaurants which you can make reservation only through your friend’s introductions or the clientele. In Tokyo, we have lots of these type of restaurants but, it will be unrealistic idea to tell you about it. Also, this is not ranking one because each restaurant is different category.  But, I believe these 10 will lead you to eat your fill of everything of Japanese food culture in this big city.

Ichikawa – Sushi Restaurant

We have tremendous amount of Sushi restaurant in Tokyo. But, tasty ones are quite limited, and most of popular Sushi restaurant is introduction based. But, Ichikawa is still open-booking model. And, the quality of ingredient and chef’s technique is amazingly outstanding. This restaurant is “Omakase” style, so, Chef will serve you his best seafood and sushi dishes on seasonally basis. Around $330 per a person. Expensive, but, if you really wanna experience high level craft work of Sushi Chef, this is it 🙂 You can check the review of his old restaurant here.

He moved his restaurant to Azabu area, so, if you stay in Hamamatsucho area based on my recommends, it will be easier for you to get to there. They point is the location is a bit difficult to find. This is the entrance gate.

You can book this restaurant from here.

A Happy Pancake Omotesando – Pancake Restaurant

I and my wife loves fluffy pancake, and this is the best one in Tokyo. For girls, once you have this pancake, others will be out of your scope 🙂 So good! 🙂 Also, all ingredients they use including eggs are organic ones. I believe these quality focusing cooking style keeps their pancake so soft and tasty. They have some in Tokyo, so, please pick up one based on your convenience. Since on my Tokyo trip guide, Omotesando area is the best for enjoying cafe, thus, I recommend this pancake restaurant in Omotesando. You can check more detail of this from here.

Fureika – Chinese Restaurant

This is our latest favorite one. Fried bamboo sprout. Insanely tasty!

This is my and my wife’s best Chinese in Tokyo. They are mainly Shanghai Cuisine. I think the chef deeply researches Japanese cuisine, and he takes the ideas into his Chinese. So, all dishes here tastes a bit softer than the original Shanghai Cuisine. Especially, Peking duck here is very popular. But, our favorite is this fish dish. The name of the fish is Hata. Please try.

You can check more detail of this from here. If you stay in Hamatsucho area, this restaurant will be close because it’s located in Azabu-juban, Tokyo Tower area.

Marutomi – Unadon Restaurant

Most of famous Unadon restaurant in Tokyo costs like US$150 – US$200 per a person, but, here, it’s only $25. Extremely cheep, but, the level is quite high. This restaurant is famous for celebrity in Toky, o, too. The restaurant size is quite small, they can only have around 10 people at the same time. But, if you wanna have amazingly tasty eel bowl in Tokyo, this is the one.

They also onlyu have “Omakase” style, so, you have have his unique and creative Japanese dishes with fresh ingredient seasonally basis. Around $250 per a person. One of our favorite here is truffle takikomi rice. You must try 🙂

Ippudo Hamamatsucho – Ramen Restaurant

I know Japanese Ramen is very popular for visitors now. Fortunately, if you stay in Hamamatsucho area, you have Ippudo pretty close to JR Hamamatsucho Station. I sometimes go there to have ramen. Always same taste! You can check more detail of this from here.

Toufuya Ukai Tokyo Shiba – Kyo Kaiseki Restaurant

We have numbers of tasty Kyo Kaiseki restaurants. The reason I recommend this one is their location. This is located in front of Tokyo Tower. The combination of food and view will be the best in Tokyo because they have beautiful Japanese garden inside.

Ukaitei Shiba Entrance

Actually, they have cozy bar inside. All guests who had dinner here can use this bar.

I basically recommend to have lunch here, because dinner is a bit expensive and you can enjoy the view of Japanese garden in daytime. You can check more detail of this from here.

Kunimoto – Japanese Beef BBQ Restaurant

If you are a meat lover, this is the best Japanese Beef BBQ in Tokyo. To me, Japanese Beef BBQ is much more tasty than beef stake because you can have extremely fresh and hot meat by self cooking style with juicy BBQ source or wasabi. Especially, what I really like is how to serve meats. Look at this picture. Beautiful isn’t it?

You can enjoy all parts of meats of Beef on this restaurant. You can check more detail of this from here.

Rakuman Azabu-juban – Croquette Shop

For last 2 recommends, I’ll tell you a bit unique one. Rakuman is very tasty fried food shop in Azabu-Juban. Croquette, Karaage(Japanese style fried chicken), Menchkatsu(Japanese style fried meat bowl), Takikokomi rice (Boiled rice with vegetablev and special sauce ). You can buy and take out your favorite items here. It’s just like lunch box style. All are so good and cheep!
